This is where, the investment in excellence comes to fruition. GMT’s games printer had a recent retiree, sure enough the ‘replacement’ had a less stringent or exacting standard for perfect it would seem !
GMT is reviewing its printing for HOPLITE and UCS. Thankfully the usual excellent customer service is on the job.
Our kids….my kids receive the same story every day (or so it seems to them) –…
That however is not what is important. What is important is the moment we sat down to start. Things looked off kilter. As some wise player said who has played Hannibal Rome v Carthage a few times more than me “two CU is not a huge difference or delta in fighting force” .
While the idea of 5k per CU is a form of absolute number there is more to a Strategic battle game…
Well not really. This is more my first take on the multi player. Lets face it the campaign has a few cute surprises. It has a Mark Walker themed story line. It has all the tension and tightness of a nubile….I mean of a set of scenarios that one would expect from Mark H. Walkers LNL series from the physical world.
You might not like the stories. you might not like…
Always take advantage of every situation; with my CG game of Matanikau in ruins I set to improving my gaming table. It was currently hurting my back due to the height so I decided to change that (had been in the works but put it off due to my game).
The end result.
Standing or via stool.
And easier to reach across the table.
Happy but it doesn’t replace photos of the end of turn!!!
Two items of note in this 13th module of OCS. The first is not discussed much and that is Steve Jensens most excellent OCS Rules Summary and Explanation! A 4 four page summation in which the last page reinforces some notions around Supply, air power and initiative. A must read.
This takes you thru the game at a high level and is a wonderful compliment to reading the second more detailed…
Combat operations in this weather hindered our direction of suitable interdiction’s to slow the advancing Soviets. Our efforts to disrupt their command infrastructure had limited success as well. The effect of weather on the situation however helped 4/69th achieve total surprise.
Just a brief check in. We are currently in the middle of the 1400 hour turn after the Marines have gone and all artillery is done. Previously the 1st Tank was activated and entered the situation. Also, the Raider Bn joins the action and looks to reinforce 1st Tank for done combined arms action as they push toward Matanikau Village.
Meanwhile I try to repel the Marines as they push hard on my IJF…
I was reading the current edition of Suspense and Decision. FIRST Mistake! Then wandered thru the back issues to read a cool article about Phoenix. That is one seriously cool , long running fantastic self evolving Opera.
suspense magazine is on its 5th issue interesting reading for Play by Mail folks…

I’ve been a bag guy for a LONG time as I just never got into Plano boxes or counter trays. Bags are 1) cheap 2) easy to store in bulk for future games and 3) lay flat in boxes. They also facilitate easy sorting into platoons, companies, battalions, etc.
However, I think I’m also now a counter tray guy. I acquired two in my recent purchases of some TCS games and wasn’t sure what use I’d put them…
